About the Calculator

The Living to 100 Life Expectancy Calculator is a very detailed longevity calculator.  It was developed by Dr. Thomas Perls, M.D.  Dr. Perls is the founder and director of the New England Centenarian Study, the largest study of centenarians and their families in the world. This calculator starts with your birth date, gender, and zip code.  It then leads you through five additional pages which ask 47 questions about you. 

• Start Page – Birth date, gender, zip code.
• Personal – (9 questions) Marital status, new relationships started, stress, sleep habits, education, attitude on aging, brain building activities
• Lifestyle – (12 questions) Drinking habits, smoking habits, use of sunscreen, flossing teeth, etc.
• Nutrition – (14 questions) Weight, height, exercise habits, diet
• Medical – (9 questions) Cholesterol levels, blood pressure, medical checkups, diabetes, heart attack history
• Family – (3 questions) family history of heart attack, cancer, and longevity

The calculator then projects your life expectancy and makes recommendations how to lengthen your life.
